In January of this year, I flew up to West Virginia and crashed in a tiny RV outside Jared and Amanda Tomlin's house. Each day, I would venture in the house and down to the basement studio to record with…

“What is a poet? An unhappy man who hides deep anguish in his heart, but whose lips are so formed that when the sigh and cry pass through them, it sounds like lovely music.... And people flock around the poet and say: 'Sing again soon' - that is, 'May new sufferings torment your soul but your lips be fashioned as before, for the cry would only frighten us, but the music, that is blissful. ”

Where Thirteen Songs was an album of songs written by three separate songwriters, Three People's sophomore project showcases their adventurous foray into co-writing, producing songs with a wide range of soundscapes - taking us from the beachy vibes of Gone but Not Gone Away, to the cobblestone alleyways of foreign lands in The Girl. Together is bookended by an introspective roll down the highway in On the Road and a barroom singalong about your very worst ex in Birmingham. Stay with Me is a delicate prayer of a song by Melanie Storrusten, that leads right into a twangy, rowdy, and swampy version of Gillian Welch's Tear My Stillhouse Down.
Together was recorded in Nashville, TN at Skinny Elephant Recording - engineered by Dylan Alldredge and produced by Neilson Hubbard, who also lent us a hand on keys, drums, and some extra voices on Birmingham. Also breathing extra life and excellent vibes into the tunes on this EP is Johnny Duke on guitar and banjo.
Arranged onto two discs, Three People's debut album demonstrates their full range within the Americana genre - from acoustic ballads to groovy electric vibes and driving rockers.
The creation of Thirteen Songs takes three independent songwriters and performers and melds them into a cohesive band with a vintage-tinged sound all their own.
